Checking power steering fluid
The power steering fluid reservoir is located under the right side engine compartment cover. Before checking the power steering fluid, remove the cover. (For details. see "Removing the engine compart covers" on page 406.).

Check the fluid level, simply look at the see-through reservoir, If necessary, add automatic transmission fluid DEXRON ¢ò or ¢ó.
If the vehicle has been driven around 80 km/h(50 mph)for 20 minutes (a little more in frigld temperatures),the fluid is hot (60¡æ - 80¡ãCor 140¨H - 175¨H). You may also sheck the level when the fluid is cold (about room temperature. 10¡æ - 300¡æ or 50¨H - 85¨H if the engine has not been run for about five hours.

1 If cold O.K.
2 If cold add
3 If hot O.K.
4 If hot add
Clean all dirt eff the reservoir and looK at the fluid level. If the fiuld s cold. the level should be in the "COLD" rang,Sinilarly, If it is not, the fluid level should be in the "HOT" range, If the level is at the low side of the appropriate range, add automatic transmission fluid DEXRON ¢ò or ¢ó to bring the level within the range.
To remove the reservoir cap, turn it counterclockwise and lift up. To reinstall it, turn it clockwise. Afterreplacing the reservoir cap visuily check the steering box case, vane oump and hose connections for leaks or damage.
